Two Fellows of American Academy of Engineering Visited School of Management

The Fellow of American Academy of Engineering, distinguished research professor of University of Miami, Professor Daniel Berg, and the Fellow of American Academy of Engineering, distinguished professor of University of Miami, Dean of engineering college of the University, Professor James M. Tien came to School of Management for academic visits and exchanges. The Vice Dean of School of Management, Prof. Shi Yong, Professor Zhao Hong, and Professor Wu Desheng received the visit.

 

Before the lecture, Professor Shi Yong and Professor Zhao Hong on behalf of School of Management conferred the certificate of the Advisor of the School to the two professors.

 

The two professors gave a lecture of “On Emerging Technologies and the Internet of Things”. In the lecture, the two professors brought about big data, system engineering, and emerging technology management related content.

 

Professor Daniel Berg began from the history of the development of science and technology. Through analysing each of the major technical and management thinking in the history, he introduced the thinking, theory and the key parameters of emerging technology management. And then introduced the influence of system engineering and big data technology has brought on various products and services.

 

Subsequently, Professor James M. Tien brought his thinking about big data and Internet of things. He mainly analysed the impact of big data analysis, adaptive services, digital manufacturing, and the influence that big data brought on products and services. Besides, he also talked about the challenges, great opportunities and limitations of big data.

 

The atmosphere of the lecture is quite good. Many students have raised the questions regarding the topic to the professors. They had great discussion after the lecture.
