2015 IEEE Symposium on Analytics and Risk in Complex Management System was held at School of Economics and Management on August 14 and 15. Over 100 experts and scholars from the University of Virginia, Stockholm University, the University of Toronto, the University of Nottingham, the University of Milan, and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the symposium. More than 100 experts and scholars all over the world attended the symposium.
The symposium was chaired by Professor Wu Desheng, associate dean of School of Economics and Management, UCAS.
On the opening ceremony, Vice President Su Gang delivered a welcome speech. He introduced the history and discipline distribution of UCAS. Associate Dean of School of Economics and Management, UCAS, Prof. Zhao Hong introduced the important academic achievements of School of Economics and Management. Professor John Hassler from Stockholm University expressed his opinions on the slowdown of China’s economic growth. Professor James Lambert from Virginia University introduced the latest development in the field of risk analysis in the United States. Vincenzo Piuri from the University of Milan introduced the latest activities held by IEEE and the development of IEEE.
The reports showed national Academic inheritance, international academic exchange and project cooperation. On the symposium, the Associate Professor Yan Yan of the School of Economics and Management, UCAS introduced “Contribution of Prof.Cheng Siwei in the Field of Economy and Finance”.she introduced the virtue business theoretical system put forward by Cheng Siwei and its application and practice in China’s financial reform. Professor Cheng Bing delivered a report entitled “The Minsky moment of the Chinese stock market: conflict and interaction between virtual economy and real economy”,which analyzed the Minsky moment and its negative influence on China’s real economy. Professor John Hassler made the report “The economics of climate change -- risks and challenges”, which stated a relatively effective solution to influence of global energy balance and weather conditions of Carbon dioxide emissions. Professor Vincenzo Piuri made the report “Biometric technologies for smart living”. He pointed out that biometric technologies and artificial intelligence offered excellent opportunities to the social development, but complex system design methods should be fully emphasized due to the need of privacy protection. Professor Pierangela Samarati made the report “Data security and privacy in emerging scenarios”, which discussed data security and privacy protection in the cloud computation and storage.
Later on, Professor Wu Desheng chaired the international academic journal editor forum. Vincenzo Piuri, James Lambert, Alexandre Dolgui, Pierangela Samarati and Hingkai Chan shared their experiences of editing the journals, and answered the frequently asked questions in paper submission.
James H. Lambert, Alexandre Dolgui, Hingkai Chan, and Wu Desheng also discussed about project cooperation. They reached common views on cooperation themes and the schedule.
On the 15th, several academic activities were held according to the themes: risk management, applied economics, and complex management system. The exchange of views was very helpful to the future research in the above mentioned fields.
