Successful Conclusion of Distinguished Scientists Lecture Series "The Methodology of Physics, Reason and Human Reason System and Three Level System Science"

At 7 p.m. on 9 March, Gu Jifa, Researcher of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited as the first speaker in the Distinguished Scientists Lecture Series sponsored by the School of Economics and Management. At S101, Zhongguancun Teaching Building of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, he gave a wonderful lecture entitled "The Methodology of Physics, Logics and Human Affairs System and Three Level System Science" to teachers and students present.


Gu Jifa, a well-known expert in the field of systems engineering and operations research, was the first to propose the use of multi-objective decision theory to deal with practical problems. His idea of "physics, reason and human reason" has been recognized by his peers at home and abroad. Gu Jifa has edited more than 20 academic monographs, published nearly 300 papers, and trained a large number of personnel specializing in operations research and systems engineering, and has made significant contributions to the development of China's systems engineering.


At the beginning of the lecture, Gu Jifa gave a brief introduction to the concept of "physics, reason and human reason", an oriental system methodology, and described the practical background of this methodology. In 1978, Qian Xuesen, Xu Guozhi, and Wang Shouyun put forward "matter has physics, affairs has reason" in the text of "Technology of Organizational Management-Systems Engineering". Later, Li Yuezi, an American Academician from Academy of Engineering put forward whether to increase "human reason" before the formation of "physics, reason and human reason" application. At the same time, soft systems engineering methodology was introduced into China, then we began to develop the Oriental systems management system with Chinese characteristics. Next, Mr. Gu described the specific process of methodology formation by enumerating the cases of regional development strategy, global climate change, evaluation and DSS development of water resources management.


This lecture won warm applause from teachers and students. After the lecture, students actively and enthusiastically put forward questions, which were patiently answered one by one by Mr. Gu. The lecture came to a successful conclusion.
