Summer School of Applied Economics (2021) Successfully Closed

On July 22, 2021, the four-day Summer School of Applied Economics hosted by SEM was sucessfully closed. The Summer School of Applied Economics was first held in 2019 and achieved good comments. This year was the second time for SEM to host the summer school. 60 students from more than 30 universities across the country listened to 8 experts to share the research frontiers in the field of the applied economics.

 

 

Professor Cuihong Yang gave a lecture on "input-output and global value chain accounting in the digital age". She explained in detail from four aspects: examples of problems in economic and social life, brief introduction to input-output model, input-output model and global value chain accounting, input-output and global value chain accounting in the digital age: progress, problems and challenges.

 

Professor Zongwu Cai  gave a lecture on the topic of "semi parametric modeling for dynamic financial network". The whole lecture was divided into six modules: model background and construction, model estimation, large sample theory, Monte Carlo simulation, real data verification and future development trend.

 

Professor Linxiu Zhang  lectured on "sustainable development and human capital improvement". Taking her own experience as an example, she inspired everyone to think about sustainable development and human capital improvement, and shared her relevant research and thinking from four parts: the United Nations' sustainable development goals, education and employment, rural human capital improvement and the research methods of random intervention experiment.

 

Professor Yongmiao Hong ectured on "how big data changes economic research paradigms and research methods". He took "empirical revolution" and "credibility revolution" as examples, and pointed out that empirical research conforms to the scientific research paradigm and has gradually developed into a mainstream research paradigm of modern economics. 

 

Professor Xiaoqiu Wu gave a lecture on "China's economic development and China's economics". He explained in detail from three aspects: the reform process of China's economic development mode, new changes in the perspective of China's economic development theory, and the theoretical analysis of China's economic development modee.

 

Professor Xianchun Xu spoke on "China's GDP accounting and development reform" in four parts: introduction to GDP, reform and development of China's GDP accounting, main methods of China's GDP accounting and suggestions for further reform of China's GDP accounting methods.

 

Professor Jianping Li gave a lecture on "some new developments in risk management". He started with the basic concepts of risk management and explained in detail from three research directions: risk management under big data context, risk management under correlation paradigm and multi-data driven financial fraud risk analysis.

 

Professor Shouyang Wang introduced the latest progress made by his research team in the field of economics and shared his experience and opinions on student training and academic research.
