Asian Summer School of Econometrics and Statistics Was Held at SEM

On July 12, 2021, the opening cerempny of  "Asian Summer School of Econometrics and Statistics" of the Econometrics Society was held at the School of Economics and Management, UCAS. The Summer School was jointly organized by SEM and the Center for Forecasting Science,CAS.

 



The "Asian Summer School of Econometrics and Statistics" is one of the two summer schools hosted by the Econometric Society in Asia in 2021, which was co-organized by the School of Economics of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics and Gregory and Paula Chow Center for Economic Research, Xiamen University.

 

The  "Asian Summer School of Econometrics and Statistics" is a public service platform for econometrics education and research for master, doctoral students and young teachers. The Summer School was first started in 2005 as the National Summer School of Econometrics and was officially accepted by the Econmetrics Society in 2017. Famous scholars at home and abroad had been invited to do academic exchanges every year. This year was the first time for the Summer School to be held at SEM, UCAS.

 

More than 180 students from dozens of universities in Asia participated in the Summer School online and offline, and listened to some of the latest international cutting-edge developments in the field of econometrics and statistics. In the six days of the Summer School, Professor Cheng Hsiao (University of Southern California),  Professor Yoon-Jae Whang (Seoul National Univversity), Professor Lung-Fei Lee (Ohio State University), Professor Whitney Newey (MIT), Professor Zongwu Cai (University of Kansas), Professor Shouyang Wang (UCAS) and Professor Yongmiao Hong (UCAS) delivered wonderful academic reports for everyone.
