On June 20, 2022, SEM summer course “Text Data Analysis Methods and Applications” was jointly offered by the Ruisi Text Data Research Center at SEM and the Basic Science Center of Quantitative Modeling and Economic Policy Research at Xiamen University. This was the first time for SEM to open the course.
The course was online, open to postgraduates and faculty from SEM at UCAS, SoE, WISE, and Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics at Xiamen University. More than 700 teachers and students were attracted to participate in the course.
The course is composed of five topics, covering the characteristics of text data in economics and management, text data analysis methods, technologies and tools, case analysis and applications of text databases. It aims to enable graduate students and young teachers in economics, management, statistics and other related disciplines to understand and master the basic analysis methods, technologies, tools and applications of text data.
The first three lectures were given by Ma Changfeng, a senior financial researcher of Ruisi Data Corporation, and the last two lectures were given by Nie Yongsheng, a senior product manager of Ruisi Data Corporation. The topics include introduction to textual analysis and word-bag technology, statistical methods (machine learning), text analysis application, and practice of financial and economic text intelligent analysis platform.
