On January 12, 2023, Clarity Analytics Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database released its latest data, Economics and Business at UCAS entered the top 1% disciplines of the ESI global rankings for the first time, which marks the important progress in the construction of the discipline of economics and management in UCAS.
The ESI database is updated every two months. This statistical data covers the period from January 1, 2012 to October 31, 2022. So far, all 22 disciplines at UCAS have entered the top 1% of ESI, of which 12 disciplines have entered the top 1 ‰, ranking 36th in the world and ranking first in domestic universities.
The economics and management discipline at UCAS has a long history, which can be traced back to 1950s. UCAS School of Economics and Management has been vigorously promoting discipline construction for years, encouraging the faculty to focus on frontiers of academic research and publishing in top journals, strengthening academic exchanges and cooperation. The faculty have published a great number of papers in top international journals such as Nature, Science, International Economic Review, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Economics, Human Relations, Human Resource Management, Information Systems Research, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Production and Operations Management and top domestic journals such as Economic Research Journal, Management World and Journal of Management Sciences in China, which has improved the international academic reputation and influence of economics and management discipline at UCAS.
