The Summer Semester Started with Prof. Setty Pendakur’s Lecture

On June 14, Prof. Setty Pendakur from the University of British Columbia brought a lecture to our students themed on “Managing E-Commerce, China and the Global Context”, which marked the beginning of the summer semester.

Prof. Setty Pendakur has been studying China for more than thirty years, and he has thorough understanding towards traffic and poverty in China. In his lecture, Prof. Pendakur took the well-known B2C enterprise, Alibaba as an example and analyzed the driving factors of e-commerce, including the development of internet, the advancement of mobile technology, the globalization of market, etc. He also probed into the future development trend of e-commerce in China in the background of globalization.

 

Prof. Pendakur shared with the students his experience to be successful before he ended his lecture. Here are the useful suggestions:

 

1.     Whatever you’re capable of, do your best.

 

2.     Nobody else, only you can solve the problem.

 

3.     Learn from everyone, even someone who lost on a project.

 

4.     Be a believable person.

 

5.     Be helpful to others, so others can help you someday.

 

6.   Nothing comes for free. Keep energetic.
