Dean’s Forum of Business Schools (Bejing & Tianjin 2012) Held Successfully

Dean’s Forum of Business Schools (Bejijng & Tijian 2012), hosted by School of Management, was successfully held in Beijing on July 8, with the support of Department of Management Science of National Natural Science Foundation of China and China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee.

 

Deans of business/management schools form Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Beihang University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China University of Political Science and Law, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Nankai University, Tianjin University, University of Science and Technology of China and other 12 universities attended the forum and discussed the development and reform of management education in the context of post financial crisis, the internationalization of Chinese management/business schools and how to do MBA and EMBA programs.

At 9:00 a.m., the opening ceremony started under the host of Wang Shouyang, the Executive Vice Dean of School of Management, GUCS. Wu Yueliang, the Executive Vice President of GUCAS, Li Yijun, Executive Deputy Director of Department of Management Science of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Cheng Siwei, Dean of School of Management, GUCAS, and Li Jingwen, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Technology made presentations on the opening ceremony. Then Wu Yueliang, the Executive Vice President of GUCAS, Li Jingwen, Dean of School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Technology, Yi Zhihong, Dean of School of Business of Renmin University of China, Cai Hongbin, Dean of Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, Gao Jian, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University and Zhang Wei, Director of Department of Management and Economics of Tianjin University were invited to witnessed the foundation of the Joint Committee of Deans of Business Schools, Beijing and Tianjin.

 

6 deans presented their speeches in the morning. Cai Hongbin, Dean of Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, summed up the internationalization of his school. Gao Jian, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, introduced MBA education reform in his school in the past six years. Li Chong, Director of Asian areas of European Foundation for Management Development, introduced briefly the assessment criteria of EFMD towards the internationalization of business schools. Yi Zhihong, Vice president of Renmin University of China and Dean of School of Business of Renmin University of China, shared her experience in international assessment of business schools. Zhang Wei,  Director of Department of Management and Economics of Tianjin University, spoke on the importance of developing cross-country cooperation in research. And Liang Liang, Executive Dean of School of Management of University of Science and Technology of China talked on his understanding of internationalization of business schools and the experience of his school on the way of internationalization.

 

In the afternoon round-table discussion, the deans discussed on how to do MBA and EMBA programs and international assessment of business schools. The discussion lasted for 2 hours and the deans shared their experience and views on hot issues in education in business schools and the future development of business schools in internationalization.
