The 4th lecture of “Serial seminar on Academic Training for Postgraduates and Doctoral Students” was held in Classroom S204, Teaching Building of the School. Professor RenCheng TONG, as the PhD supervisor of the School, was invited to give the lecture entitled “The Scientific Thinking of the Management Science”. About 100 young faculty members and doctorate students of the School attended the lecture.
Vice Dean, Professor Zhao Hong chaired the whole lecture. She introduced Professor Tong’s outstanding academic achievement in the field of input-output technology, business management and emergency management. Professor Tong has won many awards and has hosted five Projects of Natural Science Foundation of China and many other consulting projects.
Professor Tong's lecture was divided into five parts. First, he began with the discussion on research targets and characteristics of management science, and then, he asked the question “how to apply the appropriate method into research?” Thirdly, he proposed five requirements towards the researchers; and then mentioned some suggestions of doing research. Finally, he summarized that the scientific analytic process should follow all the research procedure. He encouraged the young faculties that the research innovation was not that demanding, all ones need to do was to make the determination and follow the way.

After the lecture, Professor Tong also answered audiences' questions based on the content of the lecture and communicated with all the young faculties. The audiences all said that they learned a lot during the lecture.
