The 5th lecture of “Serial seminar on Academic Training for Postgraduates and Doctoral Students” was held in Classroom S204, Teaching Building of the School on Dec. 9th. Professor RenCheng TONG, as the PhD supervisor of the School, was invited to give the lecture entitled “The Scientific Thinking of the Management Science (Ⅱ)”. About 100 young faculty members and doctorate students of the School attended the lecture.
Vice Dean, Professor Dong Jichang chaired the whole lecture. He introduced Professor Tong’s outstanding academic achievement in the field of input-output technology, business management and emergency management. Professor Tong has won many awards and has hosted five Projects of Natural Science Foundation of China and many other consulting projects.
As the second part of the Lecture “The Scientific Thinking of the Management Science”, Professor Tong illustrated some cases this time. He mentioned that the spirit of science could be summarized as the courage, capability, and the courage of scientific exploration. And he applies some scientific chart to summarize his opinions.

He then cited Joseph R. Biden’s speech about the "black box" — “a constant stream of immigration and diversity, bringing totally new perspectives, and ultimately being totally integrated into the society, and it’s stamped in every American’s DNA that you get rewarded for challenging orthodoxy. ” He proposed to every audience some questions that worth thinking, and pointed out that the development of management science and its application effect depend on the people’s scientific thinking.
After the lecture, Professor Tong also answered audiences' questions based on the content of the lecture and communicated with all the young faculties. The audiences all said that they learned a lot during the lecture.
