The awards ceremony for the 13th China Youth Science and Technology Award was held in the Great Hall of the People on the morning of Dec. 16. Vice Dean Dong Jichang won the honor and attended the ceremony.
More than 700 people were present at the meeting. Mr. Shen Weichen, the executive vice chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, spoke on behalf of the association. He first greeted people working in S&T field, then he emphasized that science and technology is a decisive factor in a nation’s prosperity. He hoped that S&T workers would make more innovative products and serve the society. He also said that the association would try its best to create good conditions for S&T workers.
China Youth Science and Technology Award was organized jointly by the CPC’s Organization Department, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and China Association for Science and Technology biennially. The number of the prize-winners will not exceed 100 each time. The award was established in 1987,and totally 1297 people have been granted the honor. On this awards ceremony, 99 people were awarded.
