China's first Quality Award Conferring Ceremony was held at Beijing Aerospace City on December 16th. Academician of CAE, Prof. Liu Yuan Zhang was conferred the first "China Quality Award" certificate by State Councilor, Mr. Wang Yong. His won the award for his outstanding research in the theory of total quality management and his great contribution to promote the quality management of Chinese enterprises.

Prof. Liu Yuan Zhang is the pioneer and the founder in the field of total quality management. He is the only Chinese Academician in IAQ, and he is always been respected as the "father of Chinese quality management". He raised China's total quality management theories and methods, and thus established the guiding ideology of China’s quality management. His ideas, theories and methods in quality management have been applied to many different areas. His great contribution to the modern management science and scientific quality management deserves the award.
Holding the trophy, 88 -year-old Prof. Liu Yuan Zhang couldn't hold back his excitement. He smiled and said this was his most glorious day. "The dream of several generations of quality management scholars has finally realized! I am really happy! This award reflects that our government now really pays attention to the quality management. Although we are now the world's second largest economy, there are gaps in the quality management between developing and developed countries, we still have to vigorously promote quality, and promote quality benchmark." In addition, Prof. Liu Yuan Zhang also showed his gratitude towards government, leaders, colleagues, friends and families.
It is reported that China Quality Award was foundered in 2012. It is the highest honor in the field of quality management in China.
