The pioneer of sustainable development in China, consultant of the State Council, Head of sustainable development strategy research group of CAS, Prof. of School of Management, Academician Niu Wenyuan gave a lecture to doctoral students on April 12.
Academician Niu’s lecture was entitled “Sustainable Development----from Practice to Science”. He first introduced the theories of sustainable development and background of spring up of the theories. He pointed out, since the foundation of World Commission on Environment and Development in the 1980s, through continuous exploration and practice, three common views have been summed up: provide driving force of development, maintain quality of development, seek fairness of development.
Then from the following seven aspects Academician Niu interpreted sustainable development: 21st century is a green century; theme and connotation of sustainable development; Social Physics—scientific base of sustainable development; Social combustion theory—orderly measurement for sustainable society; Social Behavior Entropy Theory—organization rues for sustainable society; Greet a sustainable green century; five strategic points of developing green industry in China.
