Second International Symposium on Sustainable Mobility was Held Successfully at School of Management

The Second International Symposium on Sustainable Mobility – Sustainable Mobility in China and its Implications for Emerging Economics, was held successfully at School of Management on May 28th.

 

This second symposium, which was proposed by Dean of School of Management, Prof. Cheng Siwei, was organized by School of Management, UCAS and co-organized by the Journal of Sustainable Mobility, Nottingham Business School. The main topic of the symposium this time is “Sustainable Mobility in China and its Implications for Emerging Economies”. The Scholars from Cranfield University, UK, Nottingham Trent University, UK and Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands was invited to give speeches during the symposium.


The symposium began at 9:30 AM, Prof. Zhao Hong, on behalf of Dean Cheng Siwei, gave a welcome speech to all the guests. She hoped that the cooperation between each university could be promoted through this platform and she hoped to see more and more high-level research could be done through such cooperation.

The morning session of the symposium was chaired by Professor Zhang Wei, from Nottingham Business School. He first reviewed the outcome of 1st Symposium which was held in NTU last year and showed the speech video given by Prof. Cheng Siwei.

 

After that, Dr. Stefano Longo from Cranfield University gave a speech “Low carbon vehicles powertrain design: optimal architectures and component sizing”; Prof. Gijs Mom from Eindhoven University of Technology gave a speech “Learning from the West? Hundred Years of Electric Vehicle History and the Motorization of China”. Professor Mom believed that from the historical perspective, culture and causal factors had decisive effect for the development and prosperity of electric vehicle, however, people did not have enough attention on these two factors. Professor Zhang Wei put forward some different viewpoints which triggered a discussion on it.

The afternoon session of the symposium began with the speech given by Prof. Baback Yazdani, Dean of Nottingham Business School. After that, Dr Ayman Abufanas from NTU gave a speech “Road Traffic Condition Detection - Wireless Networks Models ReviewNew Traffic Detection algorithm in VANETs”; Dr. Chen Li from School of Management, UCAS shared her research on “Comparison of Policies Effects on Individual’s Green Travel Behavior: Evidence from Individuals' Travel Behavior Survey in Three Megacities”; Prof. Zhao Hong’s student, Mr. Qin Xuzhong on behalf of their team gave a speech “Measuring corporate social performance in the Chinese automobile industry”; and Associate Professor Zhang Lingling’s Student, Mr. Cai Qiang on behalf of their team gave a speech “How to facilitate BYD’s entering into private new energy vehicle market”.

Prof. Zhang Wei gave the final speech “Decarbonized economic growth and improved mobility: The significance of large developing economies” and concluded the whole symposium.

Finally, Professor Zhao Hong on behalf of School of Management showed her gratitude to the guests. She suggested planning the next symposium as soon as possible in order to make good preparation for that.
