The 2nd International Conference of Supply Chain & Technology Innovation, ICOSTI 2014, was held in Korea from May 27 to 30. Scholars from Korea, China, U.S., France, Japan, Ukraine, and Indonesia attended the conference. Prof. Liu Xielin and PhD candidate Gao Taishan from School of Management were invited to attend the conference.
During the conference, the participants visited several research institutes such as Samsung Institute, Korea Institute of Science and Technology, and Chungnam National University. The forum which themed “Operations, Technology, and Innovation for the Creative Economy Ecosystem” was held on May 29. Dr. Hyung Jong Min, Minister of Korean Public Procurement Service, made a speech on the forum. He introduced the practice of how Korean government encouraged procurement innovation. Dr.David Steele, Dean of School of Business, San Jose State University spoke on “Technology Innovation in Silicon Valley”. He introduced innovations in San Jose State University and Silicon Valley.
Prof. Liu Xielin was invited to make a report entitled “China’s transition from Nation-led to market-led innovation country”. He introduced two types of innovation-driven models and the successful practice of China’s High Speed Rail, Aerospace, Photovoltaic, Wind Power and E-Commerce industries. Gao Taishan also made a speech on “The technology similarity and complementarity of technology in the alliance and its impact to innovation”, which introduced how R&D Alliance partners influence enterprises’ technology innovations.
