The 8th lecture of Siwei Forum was held in S101 of Zhongguancun Teaching Building on the morning of June 14. Mr. Sun Mingbo, President of Tsingtao Brewery Co., Ltd. was invited to deliver a speech to students, alumni and faculty of School of Management, UCAS. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Wang Shouyang, Executive President of School of Management.
The lecture was entitled “Making Chinese Brands Stronger and Stronger”. At the beginning of the lecture, Sun Mingbo Pointed out, as a national brand, support from consumers made Tsingtao Beer survive for 111 years. At present China’s economy was at a transition stage. What should the enterprises do in this period? The answer was brands. Then from two aspects: economic powers must be brand powers, how do we build Chinese brands, Mr. Sun developed his lecture.
Sun Mingbo said that countries such as U.S., Japan, Germany, South Korea not only own powerful brands, but also emphasize the protection and export of brands. China now began to pay attention to brand-building, too. However, brands were not built in one day. They grew with the development of economy. How shall we build Chinese brands? In the second session of the lecture, Mr. Sun Mingbo shared practice of Tsingtao Beer.
Sun Mingbo thought that only under the support of good quality could brand image be build. Meanwhile, brands also represented responsibilities. Only with the support of quality and responsibility could the brands be accepted by consumers and develop. One of Sun Mingbo’s slogan was “ Let Made In China equal Good Quality”. As an old brand with a history of more than 100 years, Tsingtao Beer had been adjusting brand position constantly. In the future, he hoped that Tsingtao Beer Co. could develop into an international enterprise and its brand could become one of the most famous brands in the world.
Before the lecture was finished, Sun Ming answered questions from the audience on organization structure, brand management, employee motivation, competition strategies and so on, and the lecture was closed with warm applause.
