Center for Forecasting Science Released Forecast on Top 20 World Container Ports

Center for Forecasting Science CAS released forecast on Top 20 world container ports on the morning of June 27. The report shows that the container transport market will develop steadily in 2014. 10 out of top 20 world container ports are from China, and 7 out of top 10 world container ports are from China.

The report says that the regional difference of growth of container handling capacity of Chinese ports will reduce in 2014. All the Chinese ports will grow in 2014. The report also points out that the growth of container handling capacity in Asian ports keeps above the average of the world growth, and most ports in Europe and America keep the state of low growth.

The Director of Center for Forecasting Science, Prof. Wang Shouyang said when answering questions of reporters from China Economic Net that Chinese ports were ranked at the top of the list due to several reasons. Firstly, China is the world manufacturing center, so there are a great number of trades in goods. Secondly, the local governments attach great importance to the construction of ports and the management is also improving. Thirdly, China has clear advantage in price, so the Chinese ports are competitive in the world. However, there are still gaps between Chinese ports and Singaporean, Korean ports in management and core competence, said Wang Shouyang.
