The sub-session International Scenes Studies: Theory and Evidence of the 18ty ISA World Congress of Sociology chaired by Dr. Wu Di was successfully held in Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan.
On the conference, Dr. Wu Di introduced to the participants the origin, development, history, and latest trends of the scene theory. Then scholars from U.S.A., Brazil, South Korea, Japan, China and other countries shared their latest achievements and started heated discussion. “How Scenes Drive Housing Prices in Beijing, China” reported by Dr. Wu Di combined big data theory, social network methodology and scene theory to explain the spatial layout of housing prices and formation mechanism in China, and was well received by all the participants.
Finally, Professor Terry N. Clark from University of Chicago, one of the founders of the scene theory, the former Chairman of International Sociology Association, representative of New Chicago Urban Sociology, commented on the academic seminar through the video. He praised the innovative research of scholars centering scene theory, and confirmed the significance of this seminar.
