Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor of Hefei University of Technolog, Mr. Yang Shanlin was invited to make a lecture at the School of Management on March 20. The lecture was entitled “Development Thinking of Manufacturing Industry in the Era of Intelligent Interconnection.
The lecture was developed around disruptive technology, manufacturing industry reform, and intelligent interconnected products. Prof. Yang first showed the 12 disruptive technologies issued by McKinsey Global Institute, such as mobile internet, internet of things, cloud computing, senior robots. Prof. Yang pointed out that internet and big data technology would probably disrupt the traditional manufacturing industry. Internet and big data had disrupted the development strategy and operating strategies, and they were changing operating principles and management styles. Internet and big data technology had become an essential part of innovation of modern manufacturing industry.
In the second part “manufacturing Industry Reform”, Prof. Yang pointed out that the impact of internet and big data technology was reflected in product technology, organization method of product research and development, manufacture, use, maintenance, and re-production, innovation of business models, and re-construction of ecosystem of enterprises. Making good use of internet and big data technology could coordinate the whole process of product research and development, manufacture, use, maintenance, and re-production in a better way on one hand, and integrate the web of suppliers, dealers, and business partners so as to build an intelligent internet environment.
Finally, Prof. Yang introduced intelligent interconnected products. Intelligent interconnected products included three core elements, namely, physical intelligent component, interconnected components, and product cloud. To make the audience understand better, Prof. Yang illustrated with intelligent interconnected automobiles.
At the end of the lecture, Prof. Yang emphasized that internet and big data technology provided great opportunities for upgrading of manufacturing industry and meanwhile, it provided challenges, too. Enterprises should seize the opportunities and integrate the products and system and grow to be rulers of the industry.
