Ushio Sumita is a professor at Graduate School of Systems and Information Engineering, University of Tsukuba, Japan. He received his first Ph.D. in 1981 from the University of Rochester, U.S.A. and his second Ph.D. in 1987 from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. Prior to joining University of Tsukuba, he taught at Department of Industrial Engineering at Syracuse University, William E. Simon Graduate School of Management at University of Rochester, Stern School of Business at New York University in the United States, and Graduate School of International Management at International University of Japan. With a wide range of research interests including Applied Probability, Stochastic Processes, Queuing Theory, Financial Engineering, e-Marketing, Information Technology, Production Management, and Logistics Management, he has published more than 150 papers in leading archive journals in these areas.
